EUSTIS, Florida — A DeLand man sped through Eustis at more than 100 mph in a stolen car attempting to elude a deputy early Tuesday morning, according to an arrest affidavit.
Early Tuesday, deputies spotted a stolen blue Chevy Malibu in Tavares and Eustis, according to an arrest affidavit. A deputy attempted to stop the car near Mt. Homer Road and David Walker Drive. The car accelerated through the city of Eustis down David Walker Drive to State Road 19 and through several residential streets several blocks from Eustis Police Department, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph.
The Malibu continued to drive recklessly until finally stopping at an apartment complex at 101 Glover Street, Eustis. The occupants bailed and numerous law enforcement officers arrived at the scene. LCSO deputies used a K-9 to track the suspects and located a female passenger and the alleged driver near a wooded area.
Deputies arrested Jesse Lavon Pollock, 28, and charged him with fleeing a law enforcement officer, grand theft auto, possession of crack cocaine and driving while license suspended. He was released the same day on $17,000 bond.
