LEESBURG, Florida — A suspect in a Leesburg murder turned himself in Monday, said Leesburg Police Capt. Joe Iozzi — just 40 minutes after Lake Legal News published a story seeking his whereabouts.
Donald C. Miller, 17, is facing a third degree murder charge in the killing of Isaiah Walters, 18, of Eustis, according to Iozzi. On Jan. 29, LPD responded to Leesburg Regional Medical Center in reference to a shooting victim transported to the hospital by a private party. Officers received information Walters was shot at Berry Park, 2121 Johns Avenue, in the Carver Heights area of Leesburg.
Witnesses told police Walters went to the park to sell someone marijuana when he was shot once in the back. The witnesses took him to LRMC the night of the shooting, where he later died. Jacob Anthony Pontiff, 19, is also facing a murder charge in the incident.
