LEESBURG, Florida — Leesburg Police Department is investigating the murder of an 18-year-old Eustis man who they believe was shot during a drug deal gone bad, said Leesburg Police Capt. Joe Iozzi.
Around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday LPD responded to Leesburg Regional Medical Center in reference to a shooting victim brought to the hospital by a private party. Officers received information Isaiah Walters was shot at Berry Park, 2121 Johns Avenue, in the Carver Heights area of Leesburg. Walters later died at LRMC.
Early information indicates the shooting may have been the result of a drug deal gone bad, Iozzi said in a press release. Narcotics were found in a vehicle involved in the shooting, Iozzi told Lake Legal News.
