MOUNT DORA, Florida — An Apopka man whose toddler was found wandering alone near boat ramps was charged with child neglect Saturday.
Mount Dora Police responded to the boat ramps near Gilbert Park, 310 South Tremain Street, Mount Dora, in reference to an unattended child. Complainants told police the child had possibly exited a blue Chrysler 300 parked in the area, according to an arrest affidavit.
A detective looked into the car and spotted a handgun and a bag of marijuana on the floorboard of the front passenger seat, as three males approached another officer on scene. One of the males, Treyvante Shaquille Hall, 23, told officers his 3-year-old son had fallen asleep in the backseat of the car, so he left him unattended while he and the two other males filmed a video in a wooded area about 200 yards away, the affidavit states. He also told police he was sitting in the front seat prior to their arrival to the park. The driver, Jordan Jamal King, 22, of Leesburg, claimed ownership of the gun and marijuana. He was charged with possession of marijuana more than 20 grams. He was released from the Lake County Jail on $2,000 bond.
Hall was charged with child neglect due to leaving the boy unattended with a gun and marijuana. He was taken to the Lake County Jail where he was released on $2,000 bond.
