MASCOTTE, Florida — A Mascotte man was jailed early Tuesday morning after threatening his house guests with a machete.
According to an arrest affidavit, David Brian Roberson, 39, was at his house at 14 South Carol Avenue, Mascotte, hanging out with four people in his shed when he got hostile, armed himself with a machete and said, “No one is leaving here until I get my $50 back,” one victim told Mascotte Police.
A second victim called 911 and Roberson could be heard in the background saying, “I will break your neck and cut your throat,” as the victim was screaming, “Give me my phone back!” The third victim told police Roberson threw the machete behind a metal cabinet and exited the shed when he became aware law enforcement was on the way, the affidavit states.
Police found the machete where the third victim described it would be and Roberson was placed under arrest. He was combative and hostile and obstructed officers as they attempted to interview witnesses. Roberson had to be taken to the Lake County Jail before officers were able to complete paperwork due to his behavior, according to the affidavit.
Roberson was charged with aggravated obstruction/resisting without violence and four counts each of assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment. He is being held at the Lake County Jail on $29,000 bond.
