UMATILLA, Florida – A Mount Dora man who drove through the front gate the Lake County Humane Society was picked up on a warrant for the crime Wednesday, according to an arrest affidavit.
On Oct. 7, an employee of the Lake County Humane Society, 16435 McKinley Road, Umatilla, arrived at work at 6:45 am. to find the front gate open and non-operational, according to a probable cause affidavit. The employee then noticed a red Jeep parked in the middle of the parking lot. Patrick Kevin Frost, 61, “admitted driving his Jeep through the front gate to gain access to the Humane Society to drop off a dog, which the business was closed,” the affidavit stated. Frost said he yelled for an employee to come and open the gate, however no one was there. The cost to fix the gate was estimated at $1,500.
A Lake County Sheriff’s deputy arrived to find Lake EMS on scene and Frost in the back of an ambulance. Frost was not questioned about the incident on scene because he was in the ambulance and getting ready to be transported to the hospital.
He was charged with criminal mischief Wednesday, nearly a month after the crime. He is being held at the Lake County Jail on $2,000 bond.
